Disney Cruise Line's biggest ship to date takes its first steps toward a magical future in Asia.
The float out is official — Disney Adventure, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, has touched water for the first time. This milestone took place at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, where the ship has been undergoing extensive renovations after being acquired from the now-defunct Dream Cruises.

Why This Float Out Matters
A float out is more than just a construction step — it signals the beginning of the final chapter before a ship starts welcoming guests. For Disney Adventure, this moment was especially significant as it marked the transformation of a former cruise vessel into a uniquely Disney experience.
The ship has now moved into the shipyard harbor where work begins on the top decks — including the installation of the signature red funnels and immersive attractions like Marvel Landing’s Ironcycle Test Run.
What’s Next for Disney Adventure
Now that it's floating, sea trials are next. These rigorous tests will assess how the ship handles in open water, all ahead of its official delivery expected later this year.
Once ready, Disney Adventure will head to its new homeport: Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore, where it will operate year-round. The ship is scheduled to set sail from Singapore on December 15, 2025, offering 3- and 4-night sailings across Southeast Asia.

A New Chapter for Disney in Asia
This launch represents Disney Cruise Line’s biggest push into the Asian market — a historic first. The Disney Adventure is the largest ship in the DCL fleet and will be capable of accommodating up to 6,700 guests.
Its debut in Singapore is part of Disney’s larger global strategy, with seven new build ships planned over the coming years, including a Japan-based ship via a licensing deal with Oriental Land Company (the operator of Tokyo Disney Resort).
From Dream Cruise to Disney Magic
Originally constructed for Genting's Dream Cruises, the ship was only partially completed when the company filed for bankruptcy. Disney stepped in, acquired the vessel, and began a major overhaul — bringing in its signature magic, character-filled design, and unmatched guest service.
This remodel isn't just cosmetic. It’s a complete reimagination of what a cruise experience can be, blending beloved Disney franchises with modern cruise expectations for both families and adults.

What to Expect On Board
While full details are still under wraps, here’s what’s been teased so far:
Themed dining with Disney storytelling and international cuisine
State-of-the-art entertainment, including Broadway-style shows
Immersive kids zones with character experiences
Cutting-edge attractions, including Marvel Landing’s Ironcycle coaster
Stunning staterooms and imaginative public spaces
Disney Adventure is set to redefine the cruising experience for families in the Asia-Pacific region. And with its float out now complete, the countdown to magic at sea has officially begun.
