Experience That Informs Our Advice
The guidance shared on Tips and Tricks for Brits is grounded in real-world experience, not theory.
Since 1998, we have planned and travelled to Orlando more than 30 times, across every stage of life. We have visited as a couple, with babies and toddlers, with teenagers, as a wider family group and now again as empty nesters.
Over the years we have stayed in Disney value, moderate and deluxe resorts, held annual passes at both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, navigated every version of FastPass and Lightning Lane, secured dining reservations at UK release times, and experienced park planning as it has evolved.
We have stayed on site at Universal in Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls and Endless Summer, used both standard and premium Express Pass, and stayed on International Drive, numerous villa communities and RCI resorts across the region.
In total, we have spent close to a full year of our lives in the Orlando area.
Our Florida experience extends beyond the parks. We have travelled to both coasts, visiting Clearwater, Anna Maria Island, Siesta Key, Cocoa Beach and St Augustine, explored natural springs to see manatees, been to sporting and headline music events and taken day trips to many of the surrounding towns.
We have cruised from Port Canaveral and Miami, and been on more than 25 ships across lines including MSC, NCL, Disney Cruise Line, Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, P&O, Fred Olsen and Ambassador.
Our wider US travel includes New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Colorado (both Denver for a city break and Aspen skiing), Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon.
We are also continuing to expand our experience with an upcoming Alaskan cruise and road trip through Montana.
Beyond the United States, we have explored widely across Europe and the Mediterranean, from city breaks in Milan, Porto, Barcelona and Paris to beach holidays in the Algarve and the Greek islands, as well as skiing in France, Italy and Austria.
This breadth of experience shapes the advice you’ll find here. We focus on the details British travellers often overlook because we have navigated them ourselves.
We continue to travel, research and invest in expanding that knowledge so the guidance here remains current and relevant.
